Fattest Woman in the World & Manuel Uribe

The fattest woman on record is Rosie Carnemolla (1944-) of Pough-keepsie, New York, at 850 pounds (386 kilograms). It’s possible, however, that another woman, Percy Pearl Washington, weighed more.

Manuel Uribe is a 1200lbs or more Mexican man. He is most likely the fattest person in the world alive today. Uribe is 40 years old and was bedridden for 5 years. Manuel made a plea for help. His plea for help caught the attention of Dr. Giancarlo De Bernardinis, who came to see Manuel with his Medical Team. Uribe is planing on making the trip to Italy for his life saving surgery a Gastric Bypass Surgery.

A 2006 review identified ten possible contributors to the recent increase of obesity: (1) insufficient sleep, (2) endocrine disruptors (environmental pollutants that interfere with lipid metabolism), (3) decreased variability in ambient temperature, (4) decreased rates of smoking, because smoking suppresses appetite, (5) increased use of medications that can cause weight gain (e.g., atypical antipsychotics), (6) proportional increases in ethnic and age groups that tend to be heavier, (7) pregnancy at a later age (which may cause susceptibility to obesity in children), (8) epigenetic risk factors passed on generational, (9) natural selection for higher BMI, and (10) associative mating leading to increased concentration of obesity risk factors (this would not necessarily increase the number of obese people, but would increase the average population weight). While there is substantial evidence supporting the influence of these mechanisms on the increased prevalence of obesity, the evidence is still inconclusive
